Robert’s research broadly centers on the ‘energy commons’ - asking how energy can be understood and governed as a commons. Robert received his PhD in Environmental Planning from Queen’s University Belfast in 2023. His doctoral research explored ownership and control of renewable energy resources such as wind flows, with a focus on landownership. More recently, he is working on energy sharing in the Dutch and European context as part of the Joule4Joule project at Tilburg University. His research approach is interdisciplinary, drawing on political economy, economic anthropology, law and ecological economics.
