About our series
Once a month during the semester, our series brings the debate on property issues to the big screen. We show a filmic treatment of conflicts over property, current dynamics of change and possible alternatives. A member of our Collaborative Research Center will give a brief introduction to the film at the beginning of the evening and shed light on the connections between the film and our property research. The film will be followed by a discussion with anyone from the audience who is interested. The films are usually shown in the original language with subtitles.
About the movie
The documentary examines the growing wealth inequality in Germany, as well as its impact on political and social power, social opportunities, and the consequences for social cohesion. To this end, the film follows various people in their daily (work) lives for half a year, including construction entrepreneur Christoph Gröner (CG Group) and a “middle-class” family from Leipzig.
Introduction by Kathrin Leuze, a sociologist at the University of Jena specializing in methods of empirical social research and social structure analysis.
