Annika Troitzsch studied sociology and psychology at the University of Freiburg and the University of Bordeaux and completed her master's degree in sociology at the University of Frankfurt. In her master's thesis, she discussed critical and neo-materialist perspectives on the relation between bodies and industrial chemicals. Her research interests include science and technology studies, environmental humanities, political ecology, sociology of the Anthropocene, feminist theories and new materialisms. One of her main focuses is on social relations to nature and the economization of nature. Currently, she is working on her PhD thesis as part of the project “Financialization and Water Security”.
Research project
In her PhD project, she studies the materiality of water in ecosystems as a challenge for the financialization of water. She is interested in the forms in which water can be financialized and the forms in which it remains unavailable, as well as the question of how processes of financialization can be conceptualized considering the materiality of water.
